सर्प राजो महाघोरो यस्याम् वसति वासुकिः ।
निर्याय मार्गितव्या च सा च भोगवती पुरी ॥ ॥४-४१-३८॥
Sarpa rājo mahāghoro yasyām vasati Vāsukiḥ । Niryāya mārgitavyā ca sā ca Bhogavatī purī ॥ ॥4-41-38॥
Translation
In which resides the terribly fierce King of Serpents, Vasuki; you must go into that city of Bhogavati, search it, and then come out.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिस नगरी में महाभयंकर सर्पराज वासुकि निवास करते हैं, उस भोगवती पुरी में जाकर और (फिर वहां से) निकलकर तुम्हें (सीता की) खोज करनी चाहिए।
English Commentary
The stakes of the mission are raised significantly here. Sugriva identifies the ruler of Bhogavati as Vasuki, the King of Serpents. Vasuki is a figure of immense cosmic power (famous for his role in the churning of the ocean). Describing him as 'mahaghora' (terribly fierce) underlines the peril. The instruction is precise: the Vanaras cannot simply bypass this city. They must enter, search thoroughly for Sita within Vasuki's domain, and then exit ('niryaya'). This directive requires immense bravery and diplomatic stealth, as searching the capital of such a powerful entity is fraught with danger.

यह श्लोक भोगवती पुरी के स्वामी की पहचान कराता है—नागराज वासुकि। वासुकि पुराणों में अत्यंत प्रसिद्ध हैं, जिन्होंने समुद्र मंथन में रस्सी का कार्य किया था। उन्हें 'महाघोर' (अत्यंत भयंकर) कहा गया है, जो उनके प्रताप और शक्ति का सूचक है। सुग्रीव वानरों को स्पष्ट आदेश दे रहे हैं कि उन्हें इस खतरनाक नगरी के भीतर जाना है, सीता की खोज करनी है, और फिर वहां से सुरक्षित निकलना भी है। यह कार्य अत्यंत जोखिम भरा है, क्योंकि वासुकि के क्षेत्र में घुसपैठ करना मृत्यु को निमंत्रण देने जैसा हो सकता है, लेकिन सीता की खोज के लिए यह आवश्यक है।
