तेषाम् अग्रेसरम् चैव बृहद् बलम् अथ अंगदम् ।
विधाय हरि वीराणाम् आदिशद् दक्षिणाम् दिशम् ॥ ॥४-४१-६॥
Teṣām agresaram caiva bṛhad balam atha aṅgadam । Vidhāya hari vīrāṇām ādiśad dakṣiṇām diśam ॥ ॥4-41-6॥
Translation
Making the immensely powerful Angada the leader of those Vanara heroes, Sugriva commanded them to proceed towards the southern direction.

महाबली अंगद को उन वानर वीरों का अग्रेसर (नेता) बनाकर, सुग्रीव ने उन्हें दक्षिण दिशा की ओर जाने का आदेश दिया।
English Commentary
The hierarchy is formalized: Angada is the Agresaram (the one who moves in front/Leader). He is described as having Brihad balam (immense strength). With the chain of command established—Angada as leader, aided by Jambavan and Hanuman—Sugriva formally orders them to the South (Dakshinam disham). This sets the stage for the most famous geographic description in the Ramayana, covering the path to Lanka.

अभियान का औपचारिक शुभारंभ। अंगद को 'अग्रेसर' (आगे चलने वाला/नेता) और 'बृहद् बलम्' (विशाल बल वाला) कहा गया है। दक्षिण दिशा 'यम' की दिशा मानी जाती है और राक्षसों का गढ़ है। ऐसे खतरनाक मिशन का नेतृत्व युवा अंगद को सौंपना सुग्रीव के विश्वास को दर्शाता है। अब अगले श्लोकों में सुग्रीव दक्षिण दिशा के भूगोल का वर्णन शुरू करेंगे, जो विंध्य पर्वत से शुरू होगा।
