ये केचन समुद्देशाः तस्याम् दिशि सुदुर्गमाः ।
कपीइशः कपि मुख्यानाम् स तेषाम् समुदाहरत् ॥ ॥४-४१-७॥
ye kecana samuddeśāḥ tasyām diśi sudurgamāḥ |
kapīiśaḥ kapi mukhyānām sa teṣām samudāharat ॥4-41-7॥
Translation
Sugriva, the Lord of Monkeys, described to the monkey chiefs all those regions in that southern direction that were extremely difficult to traverse.

उस दक्षिण दिशा में जो कोई भी अत्यंत दुर्गम प्रदेश थे, वानरराज सुग्रीव ने वानर यूथपतियों को उन सभी स्थानों का वर्णन सुनाया।
English Commentary
This verse highlights Sugriva's extensive knowledge of geography and his role as a strategic leader. Even though he is not leading the search party personally, he possesses detailed intelligence about the treacherous terrains of the South. By describing these "difficult to traverse" (sudurgama) regions to the monkey chiefs like Angad and Hanuman, he is preparing them for the arduous task ahead. It emphasizes that this mission requires not just strength, but resilience against harsh landscapes. This sets the tone for the journey, indicating that the search for Sita will take them through the most remote and dangerous parts of the subcontinent.

इस श्लोक में सुग्रीव के भौगोलिक ज्ञान और नेतृत्व की भूमिका स्पष्ट होती है। यद्यपि वह स्वयं नहीं जा रहे हैं, फिर भी उन्हें दक्षिण दिशा के उन दुर्गम रास्तों और स्थानों का विस्तृत ज्ञान है जहाँ सीता जी को छुपाया जा सकता था। वह केवल आदेश नहीं दे रहे, बल्कि अपने सेनापतियों (अंगद, हनुमान आदि) को मानसिक रूप से तैयार कर रहे हैं कि आगे का मार्ग सरल नहीं है। 'सुदुर्गमाः' शब्द यह दर्शाता है कि वे स्थान सामान्य यात्रियों की पहुँच से बाहर हैं, इसलिए वानरों को विशेष सावधानी बरतने की आवश्यकता होगी। यह सीता की खोज के अभियान की गंभीरता और व्यापकता को स्थापित करता है।
