कपयो विहरिष्यन्ति नारिकेल वनेषु च ।
तत्र सीताम् च मार्गध्वम् निलयम् रावणस्य च ॥ ॥४-४२-१२॥
Kapayo vihariṣyanti nārikela vaneṣu ca । Tatra sītām ca mārgadhvam nilayam rāvaṇasya ca ॥ ॥4-42-12॥
Translation
The monkeys will roam in the coconut groves. There, you must search for Sita and the abode of Ravana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वानर लोग नारियल के वनों में विहार करेंगे। वहीं तुम लोग सीता की और रावण के निवास स्थान की खोज करना।
English Commentary
The explicit mention of Narikela (coconut) groves firmly places this location on the tropical coastline. Sugriva anticipates the behavior of his troops—they will naturally be inclined to frolic and feed in these fruit-laden groves. However, he ties this activity to their mission: while moving through these palms, they must hunt for Sita. Interestingly, he adds 'and the abode of Ravana,' suggesting an intelligence report or intuition that Ravana might maintain outposts or hideouts along the western littoral zone.

'नारिकेल' (नारियल) का स्पष्ट उल्लेख यह सिद्ध करता है कि यह पश्चिमी समुद्र तट का वर्णन है। वानर स्वभाव से चंचल होते हैं, इसलिए सुग्रीव कहते हैं कि वे नारियल के वनों में 'विहार' (क्रीड़ा/घूमना) करेंगे, लेकिन उन्हें अपना मुख्य लक्ष्य नहीं भूलना चाहिए। सुग्रीव को संदेह है कि शायद रावण का कोई गुप्त ठिकाना ('निलयम्') इन तटीय वनों में हो सकता है। यह श्लोक उस समय की वनस्पति और वानरों की प्रकृति दोनों का सुंदर चित्रण करता है।
