न अति आसादयित्वाः ते वानरैः भीम विक्रमैः ।
न अदेयम् च फलम् तस्मात् देशात् किम्चित् प्लवंगमैः ॥ ॥४-४२-२२॥
Na ati āsādayitvāḥ te vānaraiḥ bhīma vikramaiḥ । Na adeyam ca phalam tasmāt deśāt kimcit plavaṃgamaiḥ ॥ ॥4-42-22॥
Translation
Even the Vanaras of terrible valor should not approach them too closely (or provoke them). The monkeys must not take any fruit from that land which is not given freely.

भयानक पराक्रम वाले वानरों को भी उन गंधर्वों के अधिक पास नहीं जाना चाहिए (या उन्हें छेड़ना नहीं चाहिए)। वानरों को उस देश से कोई भी फल नहीं लेना चाहिए (जो वे देना न चाहें)।
English Commentary
This is a strict "Rule of Engagement." Sugriva explicitly forbids his troops from provoking the Gandharvas, despite the Vanaras' own immense power. Crucially, he commands them not to take any fruit na adeyam (that is not given/permitted). Knowing the Vanaras' natural instinct to forage and plunder fruit trees, Sugriva warns that such theft in this specific territory would trigger a catastrophic conflict with the Gandharvas, jeopardizing the primary mission.

यह सुग्रीव की कूटनीतिक और रणनीतिक समझ है। यद्यपि वानर 'भीम विक्रमैः' (भयंकर पराक्रमी) हैं, फिर भी सुग्रीव आदेश देते हैं—संघर्ष से बचो। 'न अदेयम् च फलम्' का अर्थ है कि वहाँ से चोरी न करें। वानरों की आदत है फल तोड़कर खाना, लेकिन पारियात्र पर्वत पर यह आदत उनके विनाश का कारण बन सकती है। यह 'नियमों के पालन' (Rules of Engagement) का स्पष्ट निर्देश है—मिशन सीता को खोजना है, गंधर्वों से युद्ध करना नहीं।
