दुरासदा हि ते वीराः सत्त्ववन्तो महाबलाः ।
फल मूलानि ते तत्र रक्षन्ते भीम विक्रमाः ॥ ॥४-४२-२३॥
Durāsadā hi te vīrāḥ sattvavanto mahābalāḥ । Phala mūlāni te tatra rakṣante bhīma vikramāḥ ॥ ॥4-42-23॥
Translation
For those heroes are difficult to approach, full of vitality, and possessed of great strength. Those of terrible prowess guard the fruits and roots there.

क्योंकि वे वीर गंधर्व बड़े दुर्धर्ष, सत्यवादी (या बलशाली) और महाबली हैं। वे भयानक पराक्रमी लोग वहाँ फलों और मूलों की रक्षा करते हैं।
English Commentary
Sugriva explains the rationale behind the caution. The Gandharvas are not just inhabitants but active guardians (rakṣante) of their vegetation. They are described as durāsadā (dangerous to approach/unassailable). This characterizes the Pariyatra mountain as a guarded fortress of nature. Stealing a single fruit constitutes a breach of sovereignty here. Sugriva emphasizes their strength to ensure the Vanaras suppress their impulsive monkey nature out of fear and respect.

सुग्रीव अपने पिछले निषेध (फल न तोड़ने) का कारण बताते हैं। वे गंधर्व अपने प्राकृतिक संसाधनों (फल-मूल) के प्रति अत्यंत संवेदनशील और रक्षक (Protective) हैं। 'रक्षन्ते' शब्द बताता है कि वे बागीचों की पहरेदारी करते हैं। 'दुरासदा' का अर्थ है जिनसे पार पाना कठिन हो। सुग्रीव अपने सैनिकों को अनावश्यक जोखिम से बचा रहे हैं, यह समझाते हुए कि गंधर्वों की शक्ति को कम न आंका जाए।
