तत्र यत्नः च कर्तव्यो मार्गितव्या च जानकी ।
न हि तेभ्यो भयम् किंचित् कपित्वम् अनुवर्तताम् ॥ ॥४-४२-२४॥
Tatra yatnaḥ ca kartavyo mārgitavyā ca jānakī । Na hi tebhyo bhayam kiṃcit kapitvam anuvartatām ॥ ॥4-42-24॥
Translation
There, you must make an effort to search for Janaki. Indeed, there is no fear from them for those who behave according to their nature as monkeys.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वहाँ तुम्हें जानकी (सीता) को खोजने का ही प्रयत्न करना चाहिए। यदि तुम वानर-भाव (साधारण वानरों का व्यवहार) का पालन करोगे, तो तुम्हें उनसे कोई भय नहीं होगा।
English Commentary
This represents a brilliant tactical instruction: "Operation Camouflage." The phrase kapitvam anuvartatām means "follow the nature of monkeys." Sugriva advises his super-powered warriors to act like simple, non-threatening animals. If the powerful Gandharvas perceive them merely as wildlife, they will be ignored. If they project aggression or intelligence, they will be targeted. The mission focus remains solely on finding Janaki, not on displaying valor.

यह श्लोक 'छद्मवेश' (Camouflage) की रणनीति का अद्भुत उदाहरण है। सुग्रीव कहते हैं 'कपित्वम् अनुवर्तताम्'—अर्थात् अपनी शक्तियों का प्रदर्शन न करके, साधारण बंदरों जैसा व्यवहार करो। यदि गंधर्वों को लगा कि ये केवल जानवर हैं, तो वे उन्हें हानि नहीं पहुँचाएंगे। लेकिन यदि उन्होंने योद्धा का रूप दिखाया, तो युद्ध होगा। यह सुग्रीव की व्यावहारिक बुद्धि है—कभी-कभी महान कार्य करने के लिए अपनी शक्ति छिपानी पड़ती है और विनम्र बनना पड़ता है।
