Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तेन एवम् उक्तः शैलेन्द्रः सर्व एव त्वत् आश्रयाः ।
मत् प्रसादात् भविष्यन्ति दिवा रात्रौ च कांचनाः ॥ ॥४-४२-३९॥
Tena evam uktaḥ śailendraḥ sarva eva tvat āśrayāḥ । Mat prasādāt bhaviṣyanti divā rātrau ca kāñcanāḥ ॥ ॥4-42-39॥
Translation
The King of Mountains was addressed by Him (the Sun) thus: "By my grace, all who take refuge in you shall become golden, appearing so both day and night."

उन (सूर्यदेव) ने उस पर्वतराज से ऐसा कहा था— "मेरे प्रसाद (कृपा) से जो भी तुम्हारे आश्रित होंगे, वे दिन-रात सोने के बने रहेंगे (सोने की आभा वाले होंगे)।"
English Commentary
This verse articulates the specific boon granted by the Sun God. The blessing causes a transmutation or a permanent optical illusion: anything that resides on or takes refuge in Mount Meru will appear golden (kanchanah), regardless of whether it is day or night. This explains the recurring motif of gold in the previous verses—the trees, the soil, and the surroundings are all touched by this solar grace. It implies that the mountain possesses a radiating quality that overrides natural darkness, maintaining a perpetual golden glow. This emphasizes the divine favor protecting this region.

पिछले श्लोक में वर्णित वरदान को यहाँ विस्तार से बताया गया है। सूर्यदेव ने मेरु को यह वरदान दिया कि जो भी जीव या पदार्थ इस पर्वत के आश्रय में रहेगा, वह सदैव—दिन हो या रात—स्वर्णमयी आभा से युक्त रहेगा। यह स्पष्ट करता है कि उस क्षेत्र में सब कुछ सोना क्यों दिखाई देता है। 'त्वत् आश्रयाः' (तुम्हारे आश्रित) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है, जो बताता है कि पर्वत का सान्निध्य ही कायाकल्प करने के लिए पर्याप्त है। यह एक दैवीय चमत्कार है जो उस भूमि की पवित्रता को सिद्ध करता है। वानरों के लिए यह सूचना महत्वपूर्ण है ताकि वे वहाँ के विचित्र जीवों और वातावरण को देखकर भ्रमित न हों।
