ऊर्ध्वम् मासान् न वस्तव्यम् वसन् वध्यो भवेन् मम ।
सह एव शूरो युष्माभिः श्वशुरो मे गमिष्यति ॥ ॥४-४२-५३॥
Ūrdhvam māsān na vastavyam vasan vadhyo bhaven mama । Saha eva śūro yuṣmābhiḥ śvaśuro me gamiṣyāti ॥ ॥4-42-53॥
Translation
You must not stay beyond a month; anyone staying longer shall be executed by me. My heroic father-in-law (Sushena) will go along with you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महीने से ऊपर वहाँ नहीं रहना चाहिए; जो रहेगा वह मेरे द्वारा वध के योग्य होगा। तुम लोगों के साथ मेरे वीर श्वशुर (सुषेण) भी जाएँगे।
English Commentary
The final verse for the western direction establishes martial law. Sugriva issues a death threat (vadhyo bhaven mama) for anyone who exceeds the one-month deadline, underscoring the high stakes. He then appoints the commander for this unit: his own father-in-law, Sushena (Tara's father). By calling him Shura (heroic) and placing him in charge, Sugriva ensures the western battalion has authoritative leadership. This move balances the harshness of the death threat with the assurance of experienced command, closing the instructions for the West with authority and clarity.

सुग्रीव का यह अंतिम निर्देश अत्यंत कठोर है। वह राजा की हैसियत से चेतावनी देते हैं कि एक महीने की समय सीमा का उल्लंघन करने पर मृत्युदंड ('वध्यो भवेन् मम') दिया जाएगा। यह अनुशासन बनाए रखने के लिए आवश्यक है। साथ ही, वह इस टुकड़ी का नेतृत्व अपने ससुर 'सुषेण' को सौंपते हैं। सुषेण तारा के पिता हैं और अत्यंत अनुभवी और वीर ('शूरः') हैं। अपने ससुर को भेजकर और उन्हें 'शूर' कहकर सुग्रीव ने उस दल को गरिमा और गंभीरता प्रदान की है। इसका अर्थ यह भी है कि सुषेण के नेतृत्व में अनुशासनहीनता की संभावना कम होगी।
