Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वसन्ति हि महात्मानः तत्र सूर्य सम प्रभाभः ।
देवैः अभ्यर्थिताः सम्यक् देव रूपा महर्षयः ॥४-४३-२६॥
vasanti hi mahātmānaḥ tatra sūrya sama prabhāḥ |
devaiḥ abhyarthitāḥ samyak deva rūpā maharṣayaḥ ॥4-43-26॥
Translation
For great-souled Maharishis reside there, who are effulgent like the sun, possess divine forms, and are duly worshipped by the gods.
हिंदी अनुवाद
क्योंकि वहाँ सूर्य के समान प्रभावशाली, देवताओं के तुल्य रूप वाले तथा देवताओं द्वारा भली-भांति पूजित महात्मा महर्षि निवास करते हैं।
English Commentary
This verse provides the rationale for the caution advised in the previous verse. The cave is not empty; it is a sanctuary for 'Mahatmanah' (great souls) and Maharishis who possess the brilliance of the sun. The fact that these sages are worshipped even by the Devas ('devaih abhyarthitah') establishes their supreme hierarchy. Sugriva is effectively instructing his troops on protocol: when entering high-energy spiritual zones, aggression must be replaced with reverence. Offending such powerful beings could jeopardize the entire mission, proving that spiritual obstacles are as real as physical ones in this quest.

पिछले श्लोक में सावधानी बरतने का कारण यहाँ स्पष्ट किया गया है। वह गुफा केवल भयानक ही नहीं, बल्कि पवित्र भी है। वहाँ 'सूर्य सम प्रभाः' (सूर्य के समान तेज वाले) ऋषियों का निवास है। यदि वानर अज्ञानतावश या उदंडता से वहां प्रवेश करेंगे, तो शाप का भय हो सकता है। 'देवैः अभ्यर्थिताः' (देवताओं द्वारा पूजित) कहकर सुग्रीव उन ऋषियों की उच्च स्थिति को दर्शाते हैं। यह श्लोक वनवासियों को याद दिलाता है कि शक्ति का अर्थ केवल शारीरिक बल नहीं है; तपस्या का तेज उससे कहीं अधिक शक्तिशाली है, और उसका सम्मान करना ही धर्म है।
