मयस्य भवनम् तत्र दानवस्य स्वयम् कृतम् ।
मैनाकः तु विचेतव्यः स सानु प्रस्थ कंदरः ॥४-४३-३०॥
mayasya bhavanam tatra dānavasya svayam kṛtam |
mainākaḥ tu vicetavyaḥ sa sānu prastha kandaraḥ ॥4-43-30॥
Translation
There lies the self-built abode of the Danava Maya. Mainaka must be searched along with its peaks, plateaus, and caves.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वहाँ दानव मय का स्वयं निर्मित भवन है। उस मैनाक पर्वत को उसकी चोटियों, पठारों और कंदराओं सहित (अच्छी तरह) खोजना।
English Commentary
This verse adds a critical layer of intrigue. Mainaka is home to the 'bhavanam' (abode) of Maya Danava, the architect of the demons. Since Maya is Ravana's father-in-law (Mandodari's father), this location is a prime suspect for hiding Sita. The house is 'svayam kritam' (self-built), implying it is a fortress of illusion and advanced engineering. Sugriva’s instruction to search Mainaka's caves ('kandara') takes on added weight here, as they might conceal secret entrances to Maya’s subterranean or magical realms. This demonstrates Sugriva's strategic intelligence regarding Ravana's family alliances.

मैनाक पर्वत पर 'मय दानव' का निवास बताया गया है। मय असुरों के विश्वकर्मा (वास्तुकार) हैं और जादुई निर्माण के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं। 'स्वयम् कृतम्' (स्वयं बनाया हुआ) भवन का अर्थ है कि वह भवन मायावी और अद्भुत तकनीकों से युक्त होगा। रावण की पत्नी मंदोदरी मय दानव की ही पुत्री थी, इसलिए रावण का यहाँ आना बहुत संभव है। सुग्रीव का यह निर्देश अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि यह रावण के ससुराल पक्ष और संभावित सुरक्षित पनाहगार (Safe house) की ओर इशारा करता है। यहाँ खोज में अत्यधिक सावधानी की आवश्यकता है।
