Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न कथंचन गंतव्यम् कुरूणाम् उत्तरेण वः ।
अन्येषाम् अपि भूतानाम् न अनुक्रामति वै गतिः ॥४-४३-५७॥
na kathaṃcana gaṃtavyam kurūṇām uttareṇa vaḥ |
anyeṣām api bhūtānām na anukrāmati vai gatiḥ ॥4-43-57॥
Translation
You must not, under any circumstances, proceed north of the Kurus. Indeed, there is no path or access for other beings either to go beyond that point.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम लोगों को उत्तर कुरु के उत्तर की ओर (सोमगिरि के पास) किसी भी प्रकार नहीं जाना चाहिए। अन्य प्राणियों की भी वहाँ जाने की गति (सामर्थ्य) नहीं है।
English Commentary
Sugriva issues a stern command delineating the boundary of the mission. While the Vanaras are semi-divine, even they are forbidden from crossing beyond the Northern Kurus towards Somagiri. The phrase 'na anukrāmati vai gatiḥ' indicates that the laws of physics or spiritual movement do not allow mortals or embodied beings to tread there. It represents the boundary between the known universe and the pure divine realm, crossing which is impossible or perilous for the unauthorized.

सुग्रीव यहाँ एक सख्त चेतावनी (strict prohibition) जारी कर रहे हैं। उत्तर कुरु तक जाना और खोजना स्वीकार्य है, लेकिन सोमगिरि और उसके आगे का क्षेत्र 'अगम्य' (inaccessible) है। 'न कथंचन' (किसी भी तरह नहीं) का प्रयोग यह दर्शाता है कि यह आदेश उल्लंघन योग्य नहीं है। यह सीमा भौतिक शरीर वाले प्राणियों के लिए है; उस दैवीय क्षेत्र में प्रवेश करने पर मृत्यु या विनाश निश्चित है क्योंकि वह नश्वर प्राणियों का स्थान नहीं है।
