अनेन त्वाम् हरिश्रेष्ठ चिह्नेन जनकाअत्मजा ।
मत् सकाशात् अनुप्राप्तम् अनुद्विग्ना अनुपश्यति ॥ ॥४-४४-१३॥
anena tvām hariśreṣṭha cihnena janakāatmajā |
mat sakāśāt anuprāptam anudvignā anupaśyati ॥4-44-13॥
Translation
O best of monkeys! By this sign, Janaka's daughter (Sita) will recognize you as having arrived from my presence and will look upon you without fear or anxiety.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानरश्रेष्ठ! इस चिह्न के द्वारा जनकनन्दिनी सीता तुम्हें मेरे पास से आया हुआ समझकर शंका रहित (निडर) होकर देखेंगी।
English Commentary
Rama explicitly states the functional purpose of the ring. He anticipates the psychological distress (Udvega) Sita is undergoing. Surrounded by shapeshifting Rakshasas, she would naturally distrust a talking monkey. The phrase Anudvigna (without anxiety/fear) is key; Rama wants to ensure that his messenger brings comfort, not more terror. By presenting this Cihna (sign), Hanuman validates his origin (Mat sakashat—from my presence). This verse highlights Rama’s empathy; even in his own grief, he is meticulously concerned about not causing Sita any sudden shock or suspicion. It underscores the delicate nature of Hanuman's mission: it is not just a search, but a diplomatic engagement with a grieving soul.

श्री राम यहाँ सीता जी की मानसिक स्थिति और असुरक्षा को भली-भांति समझते हैं। वे जानते हैं कि राक्षसियों से घिरी सीता किसी भी आगंतुक को संदेह की दृष्टि से देखेंगी, यह सोचकर कि यह रावण की कोई नई चाल है। इसलिए राम कहते हैं 'अनुद्विग्ना'—अर्थात् बिना उद्वेग या भय के। 'मत् सकाशात् अनुप्राप्तम्' का अर्थ है 'मेरे सान्निध्य से आया हुआ'। राम हनुमान को समझा रहे हैं कि यह अंगूठी केवल पहचान नहीं, बल्कि सीता के मन को शांत करने का साधन है। यह सीता को विश्वास दिलाएगी कि उनका रक्षक उन्हें भूला नहीं है। यहाँ 'जनकात्मजा' संबोधन सीता के उच्च कुल और संस्कारों का स्मरण कराता है, जो विपरीत परिस्थितियों में भी धैर्य धारण किए हुए हैं।
