त्वयि एव हनुमन् अस्ति बलम् बुद्धिः पराक्रमः ।
देश काल अनुवृत्तिः च नयः च नय पण्डित ॥४-४४-७॥
tvayi eva hanuman asti balam buddhiḥ parākramaḥ |
deśa kāla anuvṛttiḥ ca nayaḥ ca naya paṇḍita ॥4-44-7॥
Translation
O Hanuman, expert in policy! In you alone exist strength, intellect, valor, adaptability to time and place, and political wisdom.

हे नय-पण्डित (नीति के ज्ञाता) हनुमान! तुममें ही बल, बुद्धि, पराक्रम, देश और काल के अनुसार कार्य करने की क्षमता, तथा नीति शास्त्र का ज्ञान—ये सब एक साथ विद्यमान हैं।
English Commentary
This verse serves as a comprehensive citation of Hanuman's competencies. Sugriva addresses him as 'Naya Pandita' (Scholar of Polity/Ethics). He lists a rare combination of virtues: 'Balam' (physical strength) and 'Parakrama' (valor) combined with 'Buddhi' (intellect) and 'Naya' (diplomacy). Crucially, he mentions 'Desha-kala-anuvrittih'—the ability to adapt to time and place. This adaptability is the hallmark of a perfect spy who must alternate between stealth, diplomacy, and combat as the situation demands.

यह हनुमान के व्यक्तित्व का पूर्ण विश्लेषण है। सुग्रीव उन्हें 'नय पण्डित' (Master of Policy) कहते हैं। केवल 'बल' (शक्ति) और 'पराक्रम' (शौर्य) काफी नहीं हैं; 'बुद्धि' और 'नय' (diplomacy) भी चाहिए। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण गुण है 'देश-काल-अनुवृत्तिः'—अर्थात समय और परिस्थिति के अनुकूल व्यवहार करना। कहाँ विनम्र होना है और कहाँ उग्र, यह जानना ही एक दूत की सफलता है। यह श्लोक सुंदरकाण्ड में हनुमान के कार्यों की आधारशिला है।
