अहम् एको वधिष्यामि प्राप्तम् रावणम् आहवे ।
ततः च उन्मथ्य सहसा हरिष्ये जनक आत्मजाम् ॥ ॥४-४५-१२॥
aham eko vadhiṣyāmi prāptam rāvaṇam āhave |
tataḥ ca unmathya sahasā hariṣye janaka ātmajām ॥4-45-12॥
Translation
(One of them boasted), "I alone shall kill Ravana when I encounter him in battle, and then, swiftly churning (crushing his forces), I shall recover the daughter of Janaka."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(उनमें से कोई कहता) "मैं अकेला ही युद्ध में रावण को पाकर उसका वध कर दूंगा और फिर सहसा (राक्षसों को) मथकर (कुचलकर) जनकनन्दिनी को ले आऊंगा।"
English Commentary
Here begins a series of boastful declarations by individual warriors, a common trope in epic literature to establish the Vira Rasa (Heroic Sentiment). The phrase Aham eko (I alone) signifies the competitive spirit among the Vanaras. Each wants to be the hero who resolves the crisis. The verb Unmathya (churning/crushing) is visceral; it envisions the battle as a physical churning of the enemy ranks. While this bravado might seem naive given Ravana's actual power, it serves to heighten the dramatic tension and highlights the fearless nature of Rama's new allies.

अब यहाँ से व्यक्तिगत वीरता और अहंकार का प्रदर्शन (Boasting) शुरू होता है। सैनिक एक-दूसरे से बढ़-चढ़कर बातें कर रहे हैं। 'अहम् एको' (मैं अकेला ही) का प्रयोग वानरों की व्यक्तिगत स्पर्धा को दिखाता है। हर वानर यह श्रेय लेना चाहता है। 'उन्मथ्य' शब्द का अर्थ है मथना या कुचल डालना, जो शारीरिक बल के प्रयोग का सूचक है। यह संवाद महाभारत के योद्धाओं के 'आत्म-श्लाघा' (Self-praise) जैसा है, जो युद्ध से पूर्व अपने उत्साह को प्रदर्शित करने का एक तरीका है। यद्यपि यह व्यावहारिक नहीं है (क्योंकि रावण अत्यंत शक्तिशाली है), परन्तु यह उनकी मानसिक तैयारी को दर्शाता है।
