Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वेपमानम् श्रमेण अद्य भवद्भिः स्थीयताम् इति ।
एक एव आहरिष्यामि पातालात् अपि जानकीम् ॥ ॥४-४५-१३॥
vepamānam śrameṇa adya bhavadbhiḥ sthīyatām iti |
eka eva āhariṣyāmi pātālā bl api jānakīm ॥4-45-13॥
Translation
(Another monkey implies), "You all remain here, trembling with fatigue as you are today. I alone shall bring back Janaki even from the netherworld (Patala)."

(कोई अन्य वानर कहता है) "आप लोग तो आज श्रम (थकान) से कांप रहे हैं, इसलिए आप यहीं ठहरें। मैं अकेला ही पाताल से भी जानकी को ढूंढ लाऊंगा।"
English Commentary
The boasting takes on a competitive, taunting tone. One warrior mocks his peers as Vepamanam shramena (trembling with fatigue), suggesting they are too weak for the task, while asserting his own superiority. This banter builds the atmosphere of a bustling, high-energy military camp. The reference to Patala (the underworld) serves as a hyperbolic limit—meaning, "no matter how hidden she is, I will find her." It emphasizes the lengths (and depths) to which they are willing to go for the mission.

यह श्लोक वानरों के बीच की हंसी-ठिठोली और प्रतिस्पर्धा को और गहरा करता है। वक्ता अपने साथियों को 'वेपमानम् श्रमेण' (थकान से कांपते हुए) कहकर चिढ़ा रहा है और स्वयं को उनसे श्रेष्ठ बता रहा है। यह सैनिकों के बीच की स्वाभाविक 'कैमराडरी' (camaraderie) है। 'पातालात् अपि' (पाताल से भी) का कथन यह दर्शाता है कि कोई भी स्थान उसकी पहुंच से बाहर नहीं है। यह अतिशयोक्तिपूर्ण कथन उनकी निष्ठा की गहराई को नापने का पैमाना है—वे असंभव को संभव करने का दावा कर रहे हैं।
