Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् एतत् विचेतव्यम् भवद्भिः वानरोत्तमैः ।
तत् उग्र शासनम् भर्तुर् विज्ञाय हरि पुंगवाः ॥ ॥४-४५-२॥
evam etat vicetavyam bhavadbhiḥ vānarottamaiḥ |
tat ugra śāsanam bhartur vijñāya hari puṃgavāḥ ॥4-45-2॥
Translation
(Sugriva said) "This search must be conducted by you, O best of monkeys, in this manner." Understanding that terrible (strict) command of their master, the bulls among monkeys (prepared themselves).
हिंदी अनुवाद
(सुग्रीव ने कहा) "हे वानर श्रेष्ठों! आप लोगों को इस प्रकार (सीता की) खोज करनी चाहिए।" स्वामी (सुग्रीव) के उस कठोर आदेश को समझकर वे वानरवीर (तैयार हो गए)।
English Commentary
This verse highlights the strict discipline enforced by Sugriva. His command is described as Ugra Shasanam (terrible or fierce decree). The Vanaras are acutely aware that failure or tardiness could result in execution (as established in previous verses regarding the one-month deadline). The phrase Vijnaya (having understood/realized) suggests that the gravity of the situation has sunk in. While they are Vanerottama (best of monkeys), it is fear of the King's wrath combined with devotion to Rama that propels them. This establishes the high stakes of the mission; it is performed under extreme pressure.

यहाँ सुग्रीव के आदेश को 'उग्र शासनम्' (कठोर शासन या आज्ञा) कहा गया है। सुग्रीव ने पहले ही चेतावनी दी थी कि जो वानर निर्धारित समय में सीता का पता लगाकर नहीं लौटेगा, उसे मृत्युदंड दिया जाएगा। 'विज्ञाय' (जानकर/समझकर) शब्द बताता है कि वानर इस आदेश की गंभीरता को समझते हैं। वे जानते हैं कि यह केवल एक साधारण खोज नहीं है, बल्कि जीवन-मरण का प्रश्न है। 'वानरोत्तमैः' और 'हरिपुंगवाः' जैसे विशेषण वानरों की क्षमता को दर्शाते हैं, लेकिन 'उग्र शासन' उनके ऊपर लटकी हुई तलवार है जो उन्हें शिथिल नहीं होने देगी। अनुशासन किसी भी सैन्य अभियान की रीढ़ है।
