ततो अहम् वालिना तेन सानुबन्धः प्रधावितः ।
नदीः च विविधाः पश्यन् वनानि नगराणि च ॥ ॥४-४६-१२॥
tato aham vālinā tena sānubandhaḥ pradhāvitaḥ |
nadīḥ ca vividhāḥ paśyan vanāni nagarāṇi ca ॥4-46-12॥
Translation
"Then, chased by that Vali, I ran along with my followers, seeing various rivers, forests, and cities."

"तब उस वाली द्वारा खदेड़े जाने पर, मैं अपने साथियों सहित (प्राण बचाने के लिए) भागा। (उस भागदौड़ में) मैंने अनेक प्रकार की नदियों, वनों और नगरों को देखा।"
English Commentary
Sugriva concludes the answer to Rama's question. His geographical expertise is the byproduct of trauma. Being Pradhavitah (chased/running) by a relentless Vali, he was forced to navigate diverse terrains—rivers, forests, and cities across the continent. This flight for survival mapped the world in his mind. It adds a poignant layer to his character: his knowledge is a scar from his persecution. This completes the explanation of why he knows "the entire circle of the earth."

यह अंतिम श्लोक राम के मूल प्रश्न का उत्तर है: "तुम्हें भूगोल का ज्ञान कैसे है?" सुग्रीव कहते हैं कि वे पर्यटन के लिए नहीं निकले थे, बल्कि मौत के डर से पूरी पृथ्वी पर भागते रहे। 'सानुबन्धः' (अनुचरों/बंधुओं के साथ) भागते हुए उन्होंने 'विविधाः नदीः वनानि नगराणि' (विविध नदियाँ, वन और नगर) देखे। वाली उन्हें मारने के लिए हर जगह ढूंढ़ता रहा और सुग्रीव हर जगह छिपते रहे। इस मजबूरी ने उन्हें अनजाने में ही पृथ्वी का सबसे बड़ा भूगोलवेत्ता बना दिया।
