उदार सत्त्व अभिजनो हनूमान्स मैथिलीम् ।
ज्ञास्यसि वानरेन्द्र दिशम् तु याम् एव गता तु सीता ।
ताम् आस्थितो वायु सुतो हनूमान् ॥ ॥४-४७-१४॥
udāra sattva abhijano hanūmānsa maithilīm । jñāsyasi vānarendra diśam tu yām eva gatā tu sītā । tām āsthito vāyu suto hanūmān ॥ ॥4-47-14॥
Translation
O Lord of Vanaras, that Hanuman, of noble strength and lineage, will surely find Maithili. The Son of the Wind, Hanuman, has resorted to the very direction in which Sita has gone.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानरेंद्र! उदार बल और उच्च कुल में उत्पन्न वे हनुमान अवश्य ही मैथिली (सीता) का पता लगा लेंगे। जिस दिशा में सीता गई हैं, वायुपुत्र हनुमान ने उसी दिशा का आश्रय लिया है (उसी दिशा में गए हैं)।
English Commentary
Here, the focus shifts decisively to Hanuman's pivotal role in the mission. The descriptors "udāra sattva abhijano" (of noble strength and high birth) serve to validate Hanuman's capability to succeed where others might fail. Addressing the "Lord of Vanaras" implies an assurance of success specifically because Hanuman has taken the path. It is a foreshadowing moment in the epic, affirming that while the army is vast, the specific destiny of finding Sita is tethered to the Vayu-putra (Son of Wind). It aligns Hanuman's trajectory physically and karmically with that of Sita.

यहाँ कवि वाल्मीकि (या वक्ता) हनुमान जी की महिमा और क्षमता पर प्रकाश डाल रहे हैं। "उदार सत्त्व अभिजनो" विशेषण हनुमान जी के उच्च चरित्र, बल और दैवीय कुल (वायुपुत्र) को इंगित करता है, जो इस कठिन कार्य की सफलता के लिए आवश्यक है। यद्यपि अंगद दल के नेता हैं, तथापि यहाँ स्पष्ट संकेत है कि सीता की खोज का मुख्य श्रेय हनुमान को ही प्राप्त होगा। यह श्लोक भविष्य की घटनाओं का पूर्वाभास देता है कि दक्षिण दिशा, जिसे रावण ने चुना था, वही दिशा हनुमान की विजय का मार्ग बनेगी। यह नियति और हनुमान के कौशल का संयोग है।
