अशरण्यम् दुराधर्षम् मृग पक्षि विवर्जितम् ।
तस्य ते कानन अन्तान् तु गिरीणाम् कन्दराणि च ॥ ॥४-४८-१५॥
aśaraṇyam durādharṣam mṛga pakṣi vivarjitam |
tasya te kānana antān tu girīṇām kandarāṇi ca ॥4-48-15॥
Translation
(Due to the curse) It became shelterless, difficult to approach, and devoid of animals and birds. They (the Vanaras) searched the limits of that forest and the caves of the mountains.

English Commentary
The outcome of the curse is a forest that offers no shelter ('Asharanyam') and is dangerous to approach ('Duradharsham'). The complete absence of birds and beasts creates a deathly silence. Despite this terrifying environment, the Vanaras continue their search, checking the very edges of the forest and deep into mountain caves. This verse highlights the thoroughness of their search mission and their bravery in navigating a supernatural wasteland.

शाप का प्रभाव यहाँ वर्णित है। वन 'अशरण्यम्' (जहाँ कोई शरण न मिले) और 'मृग-पक्षि विवर्जितम्' (जीव-जंतुओं से रहित) हो गया। ऐसे भयानक स्थान पर वानर सीता की खोज कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने वन के अंतिम छोर तक और पहाड़ों की गुफाओं (कन्दराओं) में भी छानबीन की। यह वानरों के साहस और निष्ठा को दर्शाता है कि वे ऐसे शापित और डरावने स्थान पर भी अपने स्वामी का कार्य करने से पीछे नहीं हट रहे हैं।
