Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
हार्तारम् रावणम् वा अपि सुग्रीव प्रिय कारिणः ।
ते प्रविश्य तु तम् भीमम् लता गुल्म समावृतम् ॥ ॥४-४८-१७॥
hartāram rāvaṇam vā api sugrīva priya kāriṇaḥ |
te praviśya tu tam bhīmam latā gulma samāvṛtam ॥4-48-17॥
Translation
Those Vanaras, eager to do good for Sugriva, entered that terrifying place covered with creepers and bushes, searching for the abductor Ravana (or Sita).

सुग्रीव का प्रिय करने वाले वे वानर, अपहरणकर्ता रावण अथवा सीता की खोज में, लताओं और झाड़ियों से ढके उस भयानक वन (या स्थान) में प्रविष्ट हुए।
English Commentary
The motivation of the Vanaras is reinforced here: they are 'Sugriva priya karinah' (doers of what is dear to Sugriva). Their loyalty drives them into a terrifying ('Bhimam'), overgrown thicket. They are looking for the abductor Ravana himself, showing they are ready for combat, not just search and rescue. Entering a dense, bush-covered area signals a transition in the narrative to a sudden encounter or ambush.

वानरों का मुख्य उद्देश्य सुग्रीव का प्रिय (हित) करना है, जो सीता को खोजने से ही संभव है। वे रावण को भी ढूंढ रहे हैं ताकि उससे युद्ध कर सकें। इस उद्देश्य से वे एक 'भीम' (भयानक) और घनी झाड़ियों वाले क्षेत्र में प्रवेश करते हैं। यहाँ वन की सघनता और अंधकार संकट का संकेत दे रहे हैं। यह स्थान सामान्य वन नहीं, बल्कि असुरों के छिपने का आदर्श स्थान प्रतीत होता है।
