असुरो न्यपतत् भूमौ पर्यस्त इव पर्वतः ।
ते तु तस्मिन् निर् उच्छ्वासे वानरा जित काशिनः ॥ ॥४-४८-२२॥
asuro nyapatat bhūmau paryasta iva parvataḥ |
te tu tasmin nir ucchvāse vānarā jita kāśinaḥ ॥4-48-22॥
Translation
...and the Asura fell to the ground like a collapsed mountain. When he became breathless (died), those Vanaras shone with the glow of victory.
हिंदी अनुवाद
...वह असुर, ढहते हुए पर्वत के समान भूमि पर गिर पड़ा। उसके प्राणरहित (निःश्वास) होने पर वे वानर विजय से चमक उठे (हर्षित हुए)।
English Commentary
The encounter ends swiftly with the Asura collapsing like a mountain, returning to the simile used when he first appeared. The stillness of death ('Nir ucchvase') contrasts with the frantic action of the previous verses. The Vanaras are described as 'Jita kashinah'—shining with victory. This victory serves as a morale booster for the group, validating their strength and readiness as they continue their arduous search for Sita in the perilous south.

अंततः असुर की मृत्यु हो जाती है। उसका गिरना किसी विशाल पर्वत के ढहने ('पर्यस्त इव पर्वतः') जैसा था। 'निर् उच्छ्वासे' का अर्थ है जब उसकी सांसें थम गईं। शत्रु के मरते ही वानरों का दल 'जित काशिनः' (विजयी होकर चमकना/दिखना) हो गया। यह छोटी सी जीत उनकी हताशा को कम करती है और उनमें आत्मविश्वास भरती है कि वे रावण का सामना करने में भी सक्षम हैं।
