Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ता दृशानि अन्या अपि अरण्यानि विचित्य भृश पीडिताः ।
स देशः च दुर्अन्वेष्यो गुहा गहनवान् महान् ॥ ॥४-४८-७॥
tā dṛśāni anyā api araṇyāni vicitya bhṛśa pīḍitāḥ । sa deśaḥ ca duranveṣyo guhā gahanavān mahān ॥ ॥4-48-7॥
Translation
Having searched other forests of that nature, they were sorely afflicted/exhausted. And that region too was difficult to search, vast, and full of deep caves.

उस जैसे अन्य वनों को भी खोजकर वे (वानर) अत्यधिक पीड़ित (थके हुए) हो गए थे। वह प्रदेश भी खोजने में कठिन, गुफाओं से युक्त और महान था।
English Commentary
This verse focuses on the toll the expedition is taking. The term "bhṛśa pīḍitāḥ" (excessively pained/afflicted) indicates that the Vanaras are reaching the limits of their endurance. It connects their physical exhaustion with the challenging nature of the terrain ("duranveṣyo" - difficult to explore). The repetition of the description of the land emphasizes the seemingly endless and monotonous nature of the hostile geography they are traversing, which adds to their despair and fatigue.
