Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
हितार्थम् एतत् उक्तम् वः क्रियताम् यदि रोचते ।
उच्यताम् हि क्षमम् यत् तत् सर्वेषाम् एव वानराः ॥ ॥४-४९-१०॥
hitārtham etat uktam vaḥ kriyatām yadi rocate |
ucyatām hi kṣamam yat tat sarveṣām eva vānarāḥ ॥4-49-10॥
Translation
"I have said this for your benefit; do it if it pleases you. Or, O Vanaras, tell me what is appropriate/capable for all of us (in this situation)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"मैंने यह बात आप लोगों के हित के लिए कही है, यदि आपको रुचिकर लगे (ठीक लगे) तो इसे करें। अथवा, हे वानरों! जो हम सबके लिए (इस स्थिति में) उचित/क्षम हो, वह बताएं।"
English Commentary
Angada concludes his speech with a masterstroke of diplomacy. Instead of forcing absolute obedience, he frames his orders as advice for their own welfare ('Hitartham'). By asking "Kriyatam yadi rochate" (Do it if you like) and inviting their input ('Uchyatam'), he empowers the troops. This inclusion makes them feel like partners in the decision rather than just servants. It subtly forces them to realize that they have no better alternative than the one Angada proposed.

यह श्लोक अंगद की परिपक्वता और नेतृत्व शैली का चरम है। कठोर आदेश देने के बाद, वे लोकतांत्रिक तरीका अपनाते हैं। "यदि रोचते" (यदि आपको ठीक लगे) कहकर वे वानरों को सम्मान देते हैं। वे उनसे सुझाव मांगते हैं ("उच्यताम्") कि यदि खोज नहीं करनी है तो विकल्प क्या है? यह प्रश्न वानरों को सोचने पर मजबूर करता है कि वास्तव में उनके पास सुग्रीव के भय के कारण खोज जारी रखने के अलावा कोई विकल्प नहीं है।
