ते तु दृष्टि गतम् दृष्ट्वा तम् शैलम् बहु कंदरम् ।
अध्यारोहन्त हरयो वीक्षमाणाः समंततः ॥ ॥४-४९-१९॥
te tu dṛṣṭi gatam dṛṣṭvā tam śailam bahu kandaram |
adhyārohanta harayo vīkṣamāṇāḥ samaṃtataḥ ॥4-49-19॥
Translation
Seeing that mountain with many caves within their sight, the Vanaras climbed it and looked all around.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपनी दृष्टि की सीमा में आए हुए उस बहुत सी कंदराओं वाले पर्वत को देखकर, वे वानर उस पर चढ़े और सब ओर (समंततः) देखने लगे।
English Commentary
The search is exhaustive. The phrase 'Drishti gatam' (come within sight) implies that as soon as they spot a potential hiding place, they investigate it. A mountain with 'Bahu kandaram' (many caves) is exactly the kind of place a rakshasa might hide a captive. The Vanaras climb and scan everywhere ('Samantatah'), showing that their fatigue has not dulled their thoroughness.

यह श्लोक वानरों की दृढ़ता (Persistence) को दर्शाता है। एक बार असफल होने पर भी, जैसे ही उन्हें कोई और संभावना (बहुत सी गुफाओं वाला पर्वत) दिखती है, वे उस पर भी चढ़ जाते हैं ('अध्यारोहन्त')। 'बहु कंदरम्' (बहुत सी गुफाओं वाला) होना इसे एक संदिग्ध स्थान बनाता है। वे 'वीक्षमाणाः' (बारीकी से देखते हुए) खोज जारी रखते हैं।
