Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अवरुह्य ततो भूमिम् श्रान्ता विगत चेतसः ।
स्थित्वा मुहूर्तम् तत्र अथ वृक्ष मूलम् उपाश्रिताः ॥ ॥४-४९-२०॥
avaruhya tato bhūmim śrāntā vigata cetasaḥ |
sthitvā muhūrtam tatra atha vṛkṣa mūlam upāśritāḥ ॥4-49-20॥
Translation
Descending to the ground, exhausted and disheartened, they stood there for a moment and then took shelter at the root of a tree.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(असफल होकर) वे भूमि पर उतर आए। थके हुए और हताश चित्त वाले वे वानर वहां एक मुहूर्त (कुछ देर) रुककर फिर एक वृक्ष की जड़ का आश्रय लेकर बैठ गए।
English Commentary
Gravity—both physical and emotional—pulls them back down. 'Avaruhya' (descending) symbolizes the crash of their hopes. They are 'Vigata cetasah' (dispirited/mind-less with fatigue). Pausing for a 'Muhurtham' (48 minutes/a short while) and huddling under a tree highlights their vulnerability. Even these divine Vanaras are pushed to their limits, needing the comfort of the earth and trees to regroup.
