Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सुग्रीवो राघवम् वाक्यम् इति उवाच प्रहृष्टवत् ।
ततः सुपर्ण बहुलाम् भंक्त्वा शाखाम् सुपुष्पिताम् ॥ ॥४-५-१८॥
Sugrīvo Rāghavam vākyam iti uvāca prahṛṣṭavat । Tataḥ suparṇa bahulām bhaṃktvā śākhām supuṣpitām ॥ ॥4-5-18॥
Translation
Sugriva spoke these words to Raghava cheerfully. Then, he broke off a branch (of a Sal tree) that was thick with beautiful leaves and flowers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सुग्रीव ने हर्षित होकर राघव से यह वचन कहा। उसके बाद उन्होंने सुंदर पत्तों और फूलों से भरी हुई (साल वृक्ष की) एक शाखा तोड़ी।
English Commentary
The narrative shifts to the simple, rustic hospitality of the forest. Without golden thrones, nature provides the seat. Sugriva, displaying his massive strength and jungle etiquette, breaks a large branch. The text specifies it was leafy (Suparna) and flowery (Supushpitam), ensuring comfort and aesthetics for Rama. This action grounds the divine alliance in the reality of their environment. It shows Sugriva's proactive desire to serve and comfort Rama immediately after their vows.

बातचीत के बाद बैठने की व्यवस्था की जा रही है। चूँकि वे वन में हैं, वहाँ कोई सिंहासन नहीं है। सुग्रीव स्वयं एक 'साल' वृक्ष की शाखा तोड़ते हैं। 'सुपर्ण बहुलाम्' (घने पत्तों वाली) और 'सुपुष्पिताम्' (फूलों से लदी) शाखा का चयन करना सुग्रीव का राम के प्रति आदर दर्शाता है। वे अपने मित्र और प्रभु के बैठने के लिए सबसे सुंदर और कोमल आसन बनाना चाहते हैं। यह प्रकृति की गोद में, प्रकृति के साधनों से किया गया अतिथि सत्कार है।
