ततो हनूमान् गिरि सन्निकाशः कृत अंजलिः ताम् अभिवाद्य वृद्धाम् ।
पप्रच्छ का त्वम् भवनम् बिलम् च रत्नानि च इमानि वदस्व कस्य ॥ ॥४-५०-४१॥
tato hanūmān giri sannikāśaḥ kṛta aṃjaliḥ tām abhivādya vṛddhām । prapraccha kā tvam bhavanam bilam ca ratnāni ca imāni vadasva kasya ॥ ॥4-50-41॥
Translation
Then, the mountain-like Hanuman, with folded hands, bowed to that elderly ascetic and asked, "Who are you? Whose house and cave is this? And to whom do these jewels belong? Please tell us."
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब पर्वत के समान विशालकाय हनुमान जी ने हाथ जोड़कर उन वृद्धा तपस्विनी को प्रणाम किया और पूछा—"आप कौन हैं? यह भवन और गुफा किसकी है? और ये सब रत्न किसके हैं? कृपया बताएं।"
English Commentary
This verse juxtaposes Hanuman's immense physical power (likened to a mountain) with his refined etiquette. Despite his imposing stature, he approaches the elderly ascetic with folded hands (anjali mudra), showing deep respect. This highlights the ethos that true strength is accompanied by humility. Recognizing her age and spiritual status, he follows the protocol of greeting before interrogation. His questions are comprehensive—covering her identity, the location's ownership, and the source of the immense wealth—seeking to solve the riddle of this golden underground city.

हनुमान जी का 'गिरि सन्निकाशः' (पर्वत समान) होना उनके भौतिक बल को दिखाता है, जबकि 'कृत अंजलिः' (हाथ जोड़े हुए) उनकी विनम्रता और संस्कार को। शक्ति और नम्रता का यह संतुलन हनुमान जी का मूल चरित्र है। उन्होंने स्त्री को 'वृद्धाम्' (वृद्धा) मानकर मातृवत सम्मान दिया। यद्यपि वे भूख-प्यास से पीड़ित थे और अनजान जगह में थे, उन्होंने शिष्टाचार का त्याग नहीं किया। उनका प्रश्न अब रत्नों तक भी विस्तृत हो गया है, क्योंकि वे जानना चाहते हैं कि इस निर्जन वन में इतना ऐश्वर्य किस प्रयोजन से सुरक्षित रखा गया है।
