येने इदम् कांचनम् दिव्यम् निर्मितम् भवन उत्तमम् ।
स तु वर्ष सहस्राणि तपः तप्त्वा महत् वने ॥ ॥४-५१-१२॥
yena idam kāñcanam divyam nirmitam bhavana uttamam । sa tu varṣa sahasrāṇi tapaḥ taptvā mahat vane ॥ ॥4-51-12॥
Translation
"He, who built this excellent and divine golden abode, had performed great penance in the vast forest for thousands of years."

"जिसने इस दिव्य और उत्तम स्वर्ण भवन का निर्माण किया, उसने (पहले) विशाल वन में हजारों वर्षों तक कठोर तपस्या की थी।"
English Commentary
This verse underscores the causal link between 'Tapas' (penance) and power. Maya Danava did not merely conjure this city out of thin air; he earned the capacity to create it through millennia of austerity. The description 'Bhavana Uttamam' (excellent abode) reflects the high quality of his creation. It serves as a lesson that even in the demonic lineage, greatness and the ability to rival the gods are achieved only through disciplined spiritual effort, not just brute force.

भारतीय दर्शन में सृजन का आधार 'तप' है। मय दानव केवल जादूगर नहीं था, बल्कि एक तपस्वी भी था। इतनी विशाल और दिव्य नगरी बनाने की शक्ति उसे 'वर्ष सहस्राणि तपः तप्त्वा' (हजारों वर्षों तक तप करके) प्राप्त हुई थी। यह श्लोक स्पष्ट करता है कि चाहे देवता हों या दानव, सिद्धि प्राप्त करने के लिए परिश्रम और तपस्या अनिवार्य है। इस भवन का ऐश्वर्य उसके उसी कठोर तप का फल है।
