पितामहात् वरम् लेभे सर्वम् औशसनम् धनम् ।
विधाय सर्वम् बलवान् सर्व काम ईश्वरः तदा ॥ ॥४-५१-१३॥
pitāmahāt varam lebhe sarvam auśasanam dhanam । vidhāya sarvam balavān sarva kāma īśvaraḥ tadā ॥ ॥4-51-13॥
Translation
"That powerful one obtained a boon from the Grandsire (Brahma) and, having acquired all the wealth of Usanas (Shukracharya), he became the lord of all desires."

"उस बलवान (मय) ने पितामह (ब्रह्मा) से वरदान प्राप्त किया और शुक्राचार्य (उशना) के समस्त धन (और शिल्प विद्या) को प्राप्त कर वह समस्त भोगों का स्वामी बन गया।"
English Commentary
Maya's authority was sanctioned by the supreme creator, Brahma ('Pitamaha'). The phrase 'aushasanam dhanam' refers to the legacy of Usanas (Shukracharya, the preceptor of demons). This implies Maya inherited the accumulated occult knowledge, wealth, and engineering sciences of the Asura lineage. Becoming 'Sarva kama ishvara' (Lord of all desires) means he achieved a state where his will instantly manifested as reality, explaining the self-sustaining luxury of the cave.

मय दानव की सफलता का स्रोत ब्रह्मा का वरदान था। 'औशसनम् धनम्' का अर्थ है उशना (शुक्राचार्य) का धन। शुक्राचार्य असुरों के गुरु थे और उनके पास 'संजीवनी विद्या' के साथ-साथ 'नीति' और 'शिल्प' का भी अपार ज्ञान था। मय ने वरदान द्वारा उस प्राचीन ज्ञान और संपत्ति का अधिकार प्राप्त कर लिया। 'सर्व काम ईश्वरः' का अर्थ है कि वह अपनी इच्छा मात्र से किसी भी वस्तु का निर्माण या भोग कर सकता था। यह श्लोक मय की शक्ति की पराकाष्ठा को दर्शाता है।
