तया दत्त वरा च अस्मि रक्षामि भवनम् महान् ।
किम् कार्यम् कस्य वा हेतोः कांताराणि प्रपद्यथ ॥ ॥४-५१-१८॥
tayā datta varā ca asmi rakṣāmi bhavanam mahān । kim kāryam kasya vā hetoḥ kāntārāṇi prapadyatha ॥ ॥4-51-18॥
Translation
"Granted a boon by her, I guard this great abode. What is your business? And for what reason have you entered these difficult forests?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"उसने मुझे वरदान (अधिकार) दिया है, इसीलिए मैं इस विशाल भवन की रक्षा करती हूँ। (अब आप बताएं) आपका क्या कार्य है? और किस उद्देश्य से आप इस दुर्गम वन में आए हैं?"
English Commentary
Having established her authority derived from Hema ('datta vara'), Swayamprabha shifts the focus to the intruders. She asks 'Kim karyam' (What is the task?) and 'Kasya hetoh' (For what reason?). She recognizes the oddity of their presence in such a 'kantara' (difficult/trackless wilderness). This marks the transition from the host's exposition to the guests' interrogation, setting the stage for Hanuman to reveal the Rama-katha (story of Rama).

हेमा ने स्वयंप्रभा को 'दत्त वरा' (वरदान/जिम्मेदारी दी है) जिसके तहत वह यहाँ है। अपनी स्थिति स्पष्ट करने के बाद, अब स्वयंप्रभा वानरों से प्रश्न करती है। यह संवाद का नियम है—पहले अपना परिचय दो, फिर दूसरे का पूछो। वह जानती है कि यह 'कांताराणि' (दुर्गम वन/बीहड़) है जहाँ सामान्यतः कोई नहीं आता। उसका स्वर अब आधिकारिक है, वह जानना चाहती है कि क्या ये वानर किसी विशेष मिशन पर हैं।
