दृष्ट्वा वयम् प्रव्यथिताः संभ्रांता नष्ट चेतसः ।
कस्य एते कांचना वृक्षाः तरुण आदित्य सन्निभाः ॥ ॥४-५१-४॥
dṛṣṭvā vayam pravyathitāḥ saṃbhrāntā naṣṭa cetasaḥ । kasya ete kāñcanā vṛkṣāḥ taruṇa āditya sannibhāḥ ॥ ॥4-51-4॥
Translation
"...seeing them, we became disturbed, confused, and lost our wits. To whom do these golden trees, resembling the rising sun, belong?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"...देखकर हम सब व्यथित, घबराए हुए और अचेत (सुध-बुध खोने वाले) हो गए हैं। बाल-सूर्य के समान चमकने वाले ये सोने के वृक्ष किसके हैं?"
English Commentary
This verse captures the psychological impact of the supernatural on the Vanaras. Instead of joy at finding wealth, they are 'pravyathita' (disturbed) and 'nashta-chetasa' (bewildered). The sheer scale of the illusion—golden trees shining like the morning sun—overwhelms their senses, creating fear rather than greed. This reaction is consistent with seasoned warriors who know that beauty in the wild often masks danger (like the golden deer Maricha). Hanuman asks about the owner to determine the nature of the power governing this realm.

यहां वानरों की मनोवैज्ञानिक स्थिति का सूक्ष्म चित्रण है। सामान्यतः खजाना पाकर लोग प्रसन्न होते हैं, लेकिन वानर 'प्रव्यथिताः' (व्यथित) और 'नष्ट चेतसः' (बुद्धि खोने वाले) हो गए। इसका कारण यह है कि अनजान और तर्क से परे परिस्थितियाँ भय उत्पन्न करती हैं (Fear of the Unknown)। 'तरुण आदित्य सन्निभाः' (बाल सूर्य के समान) उपमा वृक्षों की अलौकिक चमक को बताती है। हनुमान जी यह जानना चाहते हैं कि क्या यह कोई दैवीय स्थान है या किसी मायावी असुर का जाल, ताकि वे अपनी सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित कर सकें।
