English Commentary
Hanuman displays strategic humility and cultural etiquette here. Instead of boasting of their prowess, he describes the Vanaras as paridyūnā (wretched/depressed) and hungry, positioning them as vulnerable guests needing aid. Crucially, he frames their consumption of the food not as taking, but as receiving under ātithya dharma (the sacred duty of hospitality). By acknowledging her adherence to this dharma, he validates her spiritual status and implicitly thanks her before formally offering repayment. It reframes the interaction from intruders stealing food to a host feeding guests.
