अस्माभिः उपभुक्तानि बुभुक्षा परिपीडितैः ।
यत् त्वया रक्षिताः सर्वे म्रियमाणा बुभुक्षया ॥ ॥४-५२-१७॥
asmābhiḥ upabhuktāni bubhukṣā paripīḍitaiḥ । yat tvayā rakṣitāḥ sarve mriyamāṇā bubhukṣayā ॥ ॥4-52-17॥
Translation
...were eaten by us, who were tormented by hunger. Since all of us, who were dying of starvation, have been saved by you...

...वे (फल-मूल) हम भूख से पीड़ित लोगों द्वारा खाए गए। चूँकि भूख से मरते हुए हम सभी की आपने रक्षा की है (अतः हम आपके ऋणी हैं)।
English Commentary
The repetition of hunger-related terms (bubhukṣā) emphasizes the critical nature of their previous condition. Hanuman uses strong descriptors like paripīḍitaiḥ (tormented) and mriyamāṇā (dying/on the verge of death) to convey that Swayamprabha's intervention was life-saving, not merely a convenience. By stating "You saved us" (tvayā rakṣitāḥ), Hanuman places the mighty Vanaras in a position of debt to the ascetic. This open admission of vulnerability and salvation sets the stage for the ethical obligation to offer something in return.
