ब्रूहि प्रत्युपकार अर्थम् किम् ते कुर्वन्तु वानराः ।
एवम् उक्ता तु सर्वज्ञा वानरैः तैः स्वयंप्रभा ॥ ॥४-५२-१८॥
brūhi pratyupakāra artham kim te kurvantu vānarāḥ । evam uktā tu sarvajñā vānaraiḥ taiḥ svayaṃprabhā ॥ ॥4-52-18॥

"Tell us, for the sake of returning the favor, what should the Vanaras do for you?" Being addressed thus by those monkeys, the all-knowing Swayamprabha...

English Commentary
Having acknowledged the debt, Hanuman moves to ethics: pratyupakāra (returning the favor). He offers the collective service of the Vanaras, showing readiness to perform any task to balance the karmic sheet. The narrator (Valmiki) describes Swayamprabha as sarvajñā (all-knowing/omniscient) in her response. This epithet is crucial; it suggests she understands their mission, their capabilities, and the futility of material rewards for someone in her spiritual state. It foreshadows her refusal of their offer, stemming from superior wisdom rather than polite decline.

कृतज्ञता ज्ञापन के पश्चात अब 'प्रत्युपकार' (उपकार का बदला) का समय है। हनुमान एक अनुशासित और नैतिक प्रतिनिधि के रूप में पूछते हैं कि वे उनकी क्या सेवा कर सकते हैं। 'वानराः' शब्द का प्रयोग इंगित करता है कि यह सेवा केवल हनुमान नहीं, अपितु संपूर्ण वानर सेना करने को तत्पर है। श्लोक के दूसरे भाग में स्वयंप्रभा के लिए 'सर्वज्ञा' विशेषण का प्रयोग अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। वाल्मीकि जी संकेत दे रहे हैं कि वह तपस्विनी त्रिकालदर्शी है; वह जानती है कि ये राम के दूत हैं और इनकी स्थिति क्या है, इसलिए उसे उनसे किसी भौतिक वस्तु की अपेक्षा नहीं है।
