विचित्य तु वयम् सर्वे समग्रम् - समुद्रम् - दक्षिणाम् दिशम् ।
वयम् बुभुक्षिताः सर्वे वृक्ष मूलम् उपाश्रिताः ॥ ॥४-५२-९॥
vicitya tu vayam sarve samagram [samudram] dakṣiṇām diśam । vayam bubhukṣitāḥ sarve vṛkṣa mūlam upāśritāḥ ॥ ॥4-52-9॥
Translation
"Having searched the entire southern direction (and the ocean), and being hungry, we all took shelter at the root of a tree."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हम सबने पूरी दक्षिण दिशा (और समुद्र तट के क्षेत्रों) को छान मारा। (अंततः) भूख से व्याकुल होकर हम सब एक वृक्ष की जड़ के पास बैठ गए।"
English Commentary
This verse bridges their grand mission with their immediate predicament. After an exhaustive search ('vicitya') of the south, their resources and energy were depleted. The transition from searching a vast region to huddled under a single 'vriksha mulam' (tree root) signifies a moment of defeat and physical vulnerability ('bubhukshitah' - hungry), setting the scene for their accidental discovery of the cave.

हनुमान जी अब वर्तमान स्थिति पर आते हैं। 'विचित्य' (खोजकर) के बाद थकान और असफलता का उल्लेख है। 'बुभुक्षिताः' (भूखे) होना उनकी शारीरिक दुर्बलता का कारण था। इतने विशाल अभियान के बाद एक वृक्ष के नीचे शरण लेना उनकी हताशा (Desperation) को दर्शाता है। वे बता रहे हैं कि वे इस गुफा में स्वेच्छा से नहीं, बल्कि परिस्थितियों से विवश होकर आए थे।
