एतत् श्रुत्वा कुमारेण युव राजेन भाषितम् ।
सर्वे ते वानर श्रेष्ठाः करुणम् वाक्यम् अब्रुवन् ॥४-५३-२०॥
etat śrutvā kumāreṇa yuva rājena bhāṣitam |
sarve te vānara śreṣṭhāḥ karuṇam vākyam abruvan ॥4-53-20॥
Translation
"Having heard this spoken by the Prince, the Crown Prince, all those excellent monkeys spoke compassionate words."

"युवराज कुमार अंगद द्वारा कहे गए इन वचनों को सुनकर, वे सभी श्रेष्ठ वानर करुणा से भरकर (दयापूर्वक) यह बात बोले।"
English Commentary
This verse captures the collective reaction of the troop. Angada is not just a commander but a beloved leader (Kumara). His despair triggers deep empathy (karuṇam) among the vānara śreṣṭhāḥ (chief monkeys). Instead of distancing themselves from a "traitorous" thought, they align with his emotional state. This moment is pivotal as it shifts the narrative from individual fear to shared dissent. The bond between the Prince and his soldiers is shown to be strong, setting the stage for the collective decision to disobey the return order.

अंगद के नेतृत्व का प्रभाव यहाँ दिखाई देता है। यद्यपि वे निराश हैं, फिर भी वानर सेना उन्हें अकेला नहीं छोड़ती। 'वानर श्रेष्ठाः' (श्रेष्ठ वानर) अंगद के दुख से द्रवित हो उठते हैं। यह श्लोक सामूहिक मनोविज्ञान (group psychology) को दर्शाता है—जब नेता हताश होता है, तो अनुयायी भी भयभीत और भावुक हो जाते हैं। वे अंगद की पीड़ा को समझते हैं और उनके प्रति सहानुभूति रखते हैं, जो यह सिद्ध करता है कि अंगद ने अभियान के दौरान अपने सैनिकों का विश्वास जीता है।
