Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तथा ब्रुवति तारे तु तारा अधिपति वर्चसि ।
अथ मेने हृतम् राज्यम् हनुमान् अंगदेन तत् ॥४-५४-१॥
tathā bruvati tāre tu tārā adhipati varcasi |
atha mene hṛtam rājyam hanumān aṅgadena tat ॥4-54-1॥
Translation
"When Tara, possessing the splendor of the Lord of Stars (Moon), spoke thus, Hanuman thought that the kingdom was being seized by Angada."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"तारा (नक्षत्रों) के स्वामी (चंद्रमा) के समान कांति वाले तार के ऐसा कहने पर, हनुमान जी ने माना (समझा) कि अंगद के द्वारा वह राज्य हर लिया गया है (छीन लिया गया है)।"
English Commentary
This verse introduces Hanuman's astute political analysis, contrasting with the panic of the others. As Tara (shining like the Moon, tārā adhipati) sways the crowd, Hanuman recognizes the sedition for what it is. He interprets the consensus not merely as survival, but as hṛtam rājyam—a theft of the kingdom. He realizes that Angada, by allowing this mutiny to fester, is effectively seceding from Sugriva's rule. This realization triggers the counter-strategy that Hanuman will employ in this Sarga (54) to bring the monkeys back to their senses and loyalty using the policy of Bheda (divide and rule).

यह श्लोक एक महत्वपूर्ण मोड़ है। जहाँ अन्य वानर बहक गए हैं, हनुमान जी की तीक्ष्ण बुद्धि स्थिति की गंभीरता को भाँप लेती है। 'तारा अधिपति वर्चसि' विशेषण तार (सेनापति) के प्रभाव को दर्शाता है। हनुमान जी समझते हैं कि यह केवल गुफा में छिपने की बात नहीं है, बल्कि यह 'हृतम् राज्यम्' (राज्य अपहरण) का प्रयास है। अंगद को आगे करके और सेना को सुग्रीव के विरुद्ध भड़काकर, वास्तव में एक नया स्वतंत्र राज्य स्थापित करने या विद्रोह करने की योजना बन रही है। हनुमान जी यहाँ एक कूटनीतिज्ञ (Diplomat) के रूप में उभरते हैं जो देख रहे हैं कि सेना में फूट पड़ चुकी है।
