अवस्थाने यदा एव त्वम् आसिष्यसि परंतप ।
तदा एव हरयः सर्वे त्यक्ष्यन्ति कृत निश्चयाः ॥ ॥४-५४-१६॥
Avasthāne yadā eva tvam āsiṣyasi parantapa । tadā eva harayaḥ sarve tyakṣyanti kṛta niścayāḥ ॥ ॥4-54-16॥
Translation
O Scorcher of Enemies (Angada), the very moment you decide to stay back here, all these monkeys will undoubtedly determine to abandon you and leave.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे परंतप! जिस समय तुम यहाँ (विद्रोह करके) रहने का विचार करोगे, उसी समय निश्चय करके सब वानर तुम्हें छोड़कर चले जायेंगे।
English Commentary
Shifting from external threats to internal instability, Hanuman analyzes the fickle nature of the retinue. He warns Angada that his current support base is fragile. By addressing Angada as Parantapa (Scorcher of Foes), Hanuman acknowledges Angada's martial capability but highlights his political vulnerability. The commentary here focuses on the isolation of a rebel leader; once the immediate emotion of fear towards Sugriva fades, the Vanaras' natural instinct for self-preservation and attachment to their homes will override their allegiance to Angada, leaving him deserted and powerless.

अब हनुमान जी भौतिक भय से हटकर 'भेद' नीति (फूट डालना) के मनोवैज्ञानिक पहलू पर आते हैं। वे अंगद को भीड़ की मानसिकता (mob psychology) समझा रहे हैं। अंगद को अभी लग रहा है कि सेना उनके साथ है, किन्तु हनुमान जी चेतावनी देते हैं कि यह निष्ठा क्षणिक है। 'परंतप' (शत्रुओं को तपाने वाले) विशेषण का प्रयोग करके वे अंगद के शौर्य का सम्मान तो करते हैं, किन्तु साथ ही यह कटु सत्य भी बताते हैं कि नेतृत्व शक्ति के बिना, केवल विद्रोह के आधार पर सेना को जोड़े रखना असंभव है। जैसे ही वानरों को घर की याद आएगी या भय लगेगा, वे अंगद का साथ छोड़ देंगे, और अंगद अकेले रह जाएंगे।
