त्वम् समर्थ तरः पित्रा युद्धे तारेय वै ध्रुवम् ।
दृढम् धारयितुम् शक्तः कपि राज्यम् यथा पिता ॥ ॥४-५४-८॥
tvam samartha taraḥ pitrā yuddhe tāreya vai dhruvam । dṛḍham dhārayitum śaktaḥ kapi rājyam yathā pitā ॥ ॥4-54-8॥
Translation
"O son of Tara! You are indeed more capable than your father in war, and certainly able to hold the monkey kingdom firmly, just like your father."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(हनुमान बोले) हे तारेय (तारा के पुत्र)! निश्चय ही तुम युद्ध में अपने पिता से भी अधिक समर्थ हो और अपने पिता की भांति वानर राज्य को दृढ़ता से संभालने में सक्षम हो।
English Commentary
Hanuman starts his direct address with apparent flattery, calling Angada "more capable than his father" and fully fit to rule. However, in the context of dynastic politics, this is a double-edged sword. By acknowledging Angada's superior strength and right to the throne, Hanuman is logically elucidating why Sugriva sees Angada as an existential threat. A king might tolerate a weak nephew, but never a rival who is "more capable in war" than the legendary Vali. Hanuman is effectively saying, "You are too dangerous to be left alone or ignored." He uses Angada's own strengths to explain why submission to Sugriva is the only path to survival.
