Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
नित्यम् अस्थिर चित्ता हि कपयो हरि पुंगव ।
न आज्ञाप्यम् विषहिष्यन्ति पुत्र दारान् विना त्वया ॥ ॥४-५४-९॥
nityam asthira cittā hi kapayo hari puṃgava । na ājñāpyam viṣahiṣyanti putra dārān vinā tvayā ॥ ॥4-54-9॥
Translation
"O best of monkeys! Monkeys are by nature always fickle-minded. Separated from their wives and children, they will not endure your command."
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानर श्रेष्ठ! वानरों का चित्त स्वभाव से ही सदा चंचल होता है। पत्नी और बच्चों से रहित होकर वे तुम्हारे आदेश को सहन (पालन) नहीं करेंगे।
English Commentary
Hanuman deconstructs Angada's hope of establishing a new kingdom in the cave. He points out the fundamental nature of their subjects: monkeys are asthira chitta (fickle-minded). Their loyalty is transient. More importantly, he plays the emotional card of family attachment. The soldiers act on orders because their families are safe in the capital. If they stay in the cave with Angada, they lose their families. Hanuman argues that no soldier will obey Angada's commands at the cost of losing their wives and children. This strips away Angada's illusion of military support, leaving him with the harsh reality that he cannot build a kingdom in isolation.
हिंदी टीका
हनुमान जी अब व्यावहारिकता (Practicality) पर आते हैं। वे अंगद को याद दिलाते हैं कि नेतृत्व केवल व्यक्तिगत शक्ति से नहीं चलता, बल्कि अनुयायियों की निष्ठा से चलता है। वे 'कपि मनोविज्ञान' का प्रयोग करते हैं—वानर स्वभाव से 'अस्थिर चित्त' होते हैं। वे अभी भावुक होकर तुम्हारे साथ गुफा में रुक भी जाएं, लेकिन अपने परिवारों ('पुत्र दारान्') की याद आते ही वे तुम्हें छोड़ देंगे। हनुमान जी अंगद के इस भ्रम को तोड़ रहे हैं कि सेना उनके प्रति पूर्णतः वफादार है। वे स्पष्ट करते हैं कि सैनिकों की वफादारी उनके परिवारों से जुड़ी है जो किष्किंधा में सुग्रीव के कब्जे में हैं। बिना प्रजा और सेना के राजा का कोई अस्तित्व नहीं होता।
