इतो द्वीपे समुद्रस्य संपूर्णे शत योजने ।
तस्मिन् लंका पुरी रम्या निर्मिता विश्वकर्मणा ॥ ॥४-५८-२०॥
Ito dvīpe samudrasya saṃpūrṇe śata yojane |
Tasmin laṅkā purī ramyā nirmitā viśvakarmaṇā ॥4-58-20॥
Translation
From here, at a full one hundred yojanas, there is an island in the ocean. On that implies the beautiful city of Lanka, built by Vishvakarma.

यहाँ से पूरे सौ योजन (की दूरी) पर समुद्र में एक द्वीप है। उस पर विश्वकर्मा द्वारा निर्मित रमणीय 'लंका' नगरी है।
English Commentary
Precise geolocation data. Sampati provides the distance ('shata yojane' - 100 yojanas) and the terrain ('dvipe samudrasya' - island in the ocean). Mentioning that it was built by Vishvakarma ('nirmita vishvakarmana'), the divine architect, implies that the city is a fortress of impregnable design and supernatural beauty. This sets the logistical challenge for the Vanaras: crossing a massive ocean to breach a divine fortress. This specific detail (100 yojanas) becomes the standard measurement for Hanuman's leap later.
