द्वितीयो बलि भोजानाम् ये च वृक्ष फल अशिनः ।
भासाः तृतीयम् गच्छन्ति क्रौन्चाः च कुररैः सह ॥ ॥४-५८-२७॥
Dvitīyo bali bhojānām ye ca vṛkṣa phala aśinaḥ |
Bhāsāḥ tṛtīyam gacchanti krauncāḥ ca kuraraiḥ saha ॥4-58-27॥
Translation
The second path belongs to those who eat offerings (crows) and those who eat tree fruits. The Bhasas, Kraunchas, and Kuraras go in the third path.

दूसरा मार्ग (ऊँचाई) बलि खाने वाले (कौवों) और वृक्षों के फल खाने वाले पक्षियों का है। तीसरे मार्ग में भास, क्रौंच और कुरर पक्षी उड़ते हैं।
English Commentary
The stratification continues. The second tier ('dvitiyo') is for crows and fruit-eaters, birds that fly slightly higher than ground feeders but stay near trees. The third tier ('tritiyam') hosts larger birds like 'Bhasas' and 'Kraunchas' (cranes/herons). This categorization reflects ancient Indian observation of flight mechanics—that different species occupy specific ecological niches in the sky based on their wing span and lung capacity.

आकाश का वर्गीकरण जारी है। दूसरा स्तर उन पक्षियों का है जो पेड़ों की फुनगियों पर रहते हैं, जैसे कौवे ('बलि भोजानाम्')। तीसरा स्तर उससे ऊपर है जहाँ बड़े जल-पक्षी और प्रवासी पक्षी जैसे क्रौंच (Cranes) उड़ते हैं। यह क्रमिक आरोहण (Gradual ascent) दिखाता है कि जैसे-जैसे ऊँचाई बढ़ती है, पक्षियों का आकार और उड़ान क्षमता बढ़ती जाती है। यह सम्पाती द्वारा अपनी श्रेष्ठता स्थापित करने की भूमिका है।
