जटायुषो यदि भ्राता श्रुतम् ते गदितम् मया ।
आख्याहि यदि जानासि निलयम् तस्य रक्षसः ॥ ॥४-५८-९॥
Jaṭāyuṣo yadi bhrātā śrutam te gaditam mayā |
Ākhyāhi yadi jānāsi nilayam tasya rakṣasaḥ ॥4-58-9॥
Translation
If you are indeed Jatayu's brother, you have heard what was said by me (about his death). Tell us the abode of that demon (Ravana), if you know it.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि तुम जटायु के भाई हो, तो तुमने मेरे द्वारा कही गई (उसकी मृत्यु की) बात सुन ली है। यदि तुम उस राक्षस (रावण) का निवास स्थान जानते हो, तो हमें बताओ।
English Commentary
Angada makes a direct and pragmatic request. Having confirmed the fraternal bond ('yadi bhrata'), Angada leverages the shared enmity towards Ravana. He validates that Sampati has heard the tragic news ('shrutam te') and immediately pivots to intelligence gathering. He asks for the 'nilayam' (abode/residence) of the demon. This is a critical strategic move; the Vanaras are stuck because they lack geolocation data on the enemy. Angada hopes that the ancient bird's knowledge can break the deadlock.

अंगद यहां सीधे मुद्दे पर आते हैं। 'यदि भ्राता' कहकर वे पुष्टि करते हैं कि संबंध स्थापित हो चुका है। चूंकि सम्पाती अब भाई की हत्या का समाचार जान चुका है, तो उसका लक्ष्य भी वही है जो वानरों का है—रावण। अंगद सम्पाती से 'निलयम्' (निवास स्थान/घर) पूछते हैं। यह प्रश्न रामायण की कथा में एक निर्णायक मोड़ है। वानरों को केवल रावण का नाम पता था, पता नहीं। अंगद सम्पाती के ज्ञान और प्रतिशोध की भावना का उपयोग सीता की खोज के लिए कर रहे हैं।
