ब्रूहि सुग्रीव कम् देशम् ह्रियन्ती लक्षिता त्वया ।
रक्षसा रौद्ररूपेण मम प्राणप्रिया प्रिया ॥ ॥४-६-२४॥
Brūhi sugrīva kam deśam hriyantī lakṣitā tvayā । Rakṣasā raudrarūpeṇa mama prāṇapriyā priyā ॥ ॥4-6-24॥
Translation
"Tell me, Sugriva, towards which region/direction did you see my beloved, who is dearer to me than life, being carried away by that fierce-looking Rakshasa?"

"बताओ सुग्रीव! उस भयानक रूप वाले राक्षस द्वारा मेरी प्राण-प्रिय पत्नी किस देश (दिशा) की ओर ले जाई जाती हुई तुमने देखी?"
English Commentary
Rama transitions from grief to strategic inquiry. Having confirmed the identity of the victim through the jewelry, he now demands actionable intelligence: kam desham (which region/direction?). Calling Sita pranapriya (dearer than life) reinforces the stakes—he will go to any length to recover her. He asks about the trajectory of the raudrarupena (fierce-looking) demon. This marks the beginning of the tactical phase of the Kishkindha Kanda, where the search for Sita officially begins.

शोक का आवेग कम होते ही राम 'एक्शन' में आ जाते हैं। अब वे सुग्रीव से सटीक जानकारी (Intelligence) मांग रहे हैं। 'कम् देशम्' (किस स्थान/दिशा) का प्रश्न खोज अभियान की शुरुआत है। राम सीता को 'प्राणप्रिया' (प्राणों से भी प्यारी) कहते हैं, जो उनके संकल्प को दृढ़ करता है। 'रौद्ररूपेण' (भयानक रूप वाले) राक्षस का उल्लेख करके वे शत्रु की पहचान और क्षमता का आकलन करना चाहते हैं। अब कहानी विलाप से युद्ध की तैयारी की ओर बढ़ रही है।
