राज्यात् हीनो भ्रात्रा च पक्षाभ्याम् विक्रमेण च ।
सर्वथा मर्तुम् एव इच्छन् पतिष्ये शिखरात् गिरेः ॥ ॥४-६१-१७॥
Rājyāt hīno bhrātrā ca pakṣābhyām vikrameṇa ca । Sarvathā martum eva icchan patiṣye śikharāt gireḥ ॥ ॥4-61-17॥
Translation
Deprived of my kingdom, my brother, my wings, and my prowess, and wishing only to die by all means, I shall throw myself from the peak of this mountain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं राज्य से, भाई से, पंखों से और अपने पराक्रम से हीन हो चुका हूँ। अब सर्वथा मरने की इच्छा करता हुआ मैं इस पर्वत के शिखर से गिर जाऊंगा (आत्महत्या कर लूंगा)।
English Commentary
Sampati recounts the depth of his despair immediately following the fall. He lists his losses: kingdom, brother, wings, and valor (vikrama). Stripped of everything that defined his identity as the King of Vultures, he contemplated suicide (martum eva icchan). This verse highlights the psychological impact of disability and loss of status. He resolved to end his life by jumping from the cliff, believing that a flightless bird has no place in the world. This sets the stage for the Sage's intervention.

यह फ्लैशबैक का अंत और निराशा की चरम सीमा है। संपाती अपनी हानियों की सूची बनाते हैं: राज्य (सत्ता), भाई (संबंध), पंख (स्वतंत्रता), और विक्रम (शक्ति)। जब जीवन के ये सभी स्तंभ गिर गए, तो उन्हें जीवन निरर्थक लगा। 'मर्तुम् एव इच्छन्' (केवल मरने की इच्छा रखते हुए) वे आत्महत्या का निर्णय लेते हैं। यह एक स्वाभाविक मानवीय प्रतिक्रिया है। एक योद्धा या राजा के लिए असहाय होकर जीना मृत्यु से अधिक कष्टकारी होता है। वे उसी पर्वत से कूदना चाहते थे जहाँ वे गिरे थे।
