Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एष्यन्ति प्रेषिताः तत्र राम दूताः प्लवंगमाः ।
आख्येया राम महिषी त्वया तेभ्यो विहंगम ॥४-६२-११॥
eṣyanti preṣitāḥ tatra rāma dūtāḥ plavaṃgamāḥ । ākhyeyā rāma mahiṣī tvayā tebhyo vihaṃgama ॥4-62-11॥
Translation
"Sent by Rama, monkeys (Plavangamas) will come there as messengers. O bird (Vihangama), you must tell them about Rama's queen (Sita)."

"वहाँ (तुम्हारे पास) राम द्वारा भेजे गए प्लवंगम (वानर/कपि) दूत के रूप में आएंगे। हे विहंगम (पक्षी)! तुम्हें उन्हें राम की महिषी (सीता) के विषय में बताना होगा।"
English Commentary
Sage Nishakara gives specific instructions to Sampati regarding his role. He predicts the arrival of Plavangamas (monkeys/those who move by jumping) acting as Rama dūtāḥ (Rama's messengers). The imperative ākhyeyā (must be told/narrated) binds Sampati to this duty. He is tasked with providing intelligence about Rama mahiṣī (Rama’s queen/buffalo-queen, implying chief consort). The sage addresses Sampati as Vihangama (bird), emphasizing that while he cannot fly now, his nature as a bird allows him to have seen what others missed, or simply addressing his species. This verse serves as the direct link between the ancient prophecy and the present moment where Sampati is speaking to the Vanaras.

ऋषि निशाकर अब सीधे सम्पाती को उसका कर्तव्य बता रहे हैं। 'एष्यन्ति' (आएंगे)—यह निश्चित भविष्यवाणी है। वानरों को 'राम दूताः' कहा गया है। ऋषि सम्पाती को 'विहंगम' कहकर संबोधित करते हैं और आदेश देते हैं कि जब वे आएं, तो तुम्हें चुप नहीं रहना है। 'आख्येया'—अर्थात् तुम्हें आख्यान करना है, बताना है। क्या बताना है? 'राम महिषी'—राम की पटरानी सीता का पता। ऋषि स्पष्ट करते हैं कि सम्पाती के जीवन का लक्ष्य यही है—उन दूतों को सही दिशा दिखाना। यही वह क्षण है जिसका सम्पाती वर्षों से प्रतीक्षा कर रहा था, और अब वह अंगद और हनुमान को यह कथा सुनाकर उस आदेश का पालन कर रहा है।
