उत्सहेयम् अहम् कर्तुम् अद्य एव त्वाम् स पक्षकम् ।
इह स्थः त्वम् तु लोकानाम् हितम् कार्यम् करिष्यसि ॥४-६२-१३॥
utsaheyam aham kartum adya eva tvām sa pakṣakam । iha sthaḥ tvam tu lokānām hitam kāryam kariṣyasi ॥4-62-13॥
Translation
"I am capable of making you winged this very day, but by staying here, you will accomplish a task beneficial to the worlds."

"मैं आज ही तुम्हें पंखयुक्त करने में समर्थ हूँ (उत्साह रखता हूँ), किन्तु यहाँ रहकर तुम लोकों का हितकारी कार्य करोगे।"
English Commentary
Sage Nishakara reveals that he possesses the immediate power (utsaheyam... adya eva) to restore Sampati’s wings. However, he deliberately chooses not to exercise this power instantly. The reason provided is altruistic: lokānām hitam kāryam (a task for the welfare of the worlds). This highlights a profound principle: sometimes individual suffering is prolonged by destiny for a greater collective good. If Sampati had regained his wings years ago, he might have left the Vindhya mountains, and the Vanaras would have found no guide to Lanka. By remaining flightless and stationary (iha sthaḥ), Sampati ensures he is present at the critical juncture to aid Rama’s mission, which serves the entire world.

ऋषि निशाकर अपनी तपस्या की शक्ति बताते हैं। वे कहते हैं, 'उत्सहेयम्'—मुझमें सामर्थ्य है कि मैं 'अद्य एव' (आज ही) तुम्हारे पंख वापस ला सकता हूँ। लेकिन वे ऐसा नहीं करते। क्यों? क्योंकि 'लोकानाम् हितम् कार्यम्' (लोक कल्याण) अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है। यदि सम्पाती को उसी समय पंख मिल जाते, तो संभवतः वह वहां से उड़ जाता और जब वानर आते, तो सीता का पता बताने वाला कोई न होता। रामायण की कथा रुक जाती। इसलिए ऋषि ने व्यक्तिगत कष्ट निवारण (सम्पाती के पंख) को लोकहित (सीता की खोज/रावण वध) के लिए स्थगित कर दिया। यह श्लोक त्याग और बड़े उद्देश्य के लिए कष्ट सहने की प्रेरणा देता है।
