कंदरात् तु विसर्पित्वा पर्वतस्य शनैः शनैः ।
अहम् विंध्यम् समारुह्य भवतः प्रतिपालये ॥४-६३-२॥
kandarāt tu visarpitvā parvatasya śanaiḥ śanaiḥ । aham vindhyam samāruhya bhavataḥ pratipālaye ॥4-63-2॥
Translation
Crawling slowly out of the cave, I climbed this Vindhya mountain and have been waiting for you all.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(ऋषि के जाने के बाद) मैं कंदरा (गुफा) से धीरे-धीरे खिसक कर बाहर आया और इस विंध्य पर्वत पर चढ़कर आप लोगों (वानरों) की प्रतीक्षा कर रहा हूँ।
English Commentary
This verse evokes the physical struggle of the fallen king of birds. The word visarpitvā (having crawled/slithered) contrasts sharply with his nature as a creature of the sky. Stripped of his flight, he reduced himself to dragging his body śanaiḥ śanaiḥ (slowly/painfully) to a vantage point. Bhavataḥ pratipālaye (I am waiting for you) is the climax of his narrative. It signifies that his entire existence for the past century was centered around this specific meeting with Angada and the Vanaras. It transforms the desolate mountain top into a destined rendezvous point.

सम्पाती अपनी शारीरिक बाधाओं का वर्णन कर रहे हैं। 'विसर्पित्वा' शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है, जिसका अर्थ है 'रेंगकर' या 'घिसटकर'। पक्षी होने के बावजूद उन्हें सर्प की भांति रेंगना पड़ा क्योंकि उनके पंख नहीं थे। 'शनैः शनैः' (धीरे-धीरे) उनके कष्ट और धैर्य दोनों को दर्शाता है। 'भवतः प्रतिपालये'—मैं आप लोगों की ही प्रतीक्षा कर रहा हूँ। सम्पाती वानरों को यह विश्वास दिला रहे हैं कि उनका यहाँ होना संयोग नहीं है, बल्कि एक लंबी तपस्या और प्रतीक्षा का फल है। उन्होंने वर्षों तक विंध्य पर्वत के शिखर पर बैठकर केवल उस क्षण का इंतजार किया जब रामदूत वहां आएंगे।
