अभ्युत्थितम् ततः सूर्यम् बालो दृष्ट्वा महा वने ।
फलंचेतिजिघृक्षुस्त्वमुत्प्लुत्याभ्युत्पतोदिवम् ॥४-६६-२१॥
abhyutthitam tataḥ sūryam bālo dṛṣṭvā mahā vane |
phalam ca iti jighṛkṣuḥ tvam utplutya abhyutpato divam ॥4-66-21॥
Translation
"Seeing the rising sun in that great forest while you were a child, and wishing to seize it thinking 'It is a fruit,' you jumped up and flew into the sky."

"उस महावन में (बचपन में) उदित होते हुए सूर्य को देखकर, उसे 'फल है' ऐसा मानकर पकड़ने की इच्छा से तुम उछले और आकाश में उड़ गए।"
English Commentary
This counts as the most iconic anecdote of Hanuman's childhood. Mistaking the sun for a fruit highlights his innocence, but leaping into the sky to grab it demonstrates unlimited power. Jambavan uses this logic: if an untrained infant could instinctively fly into space to catch the sun, surely the adult, trained warrior standing before him can cross a mere ocean. This incident serves as proof of his inherent, effortless ability to defy gravity.

यह हनुमान के बाल्यकाल की सबसे प्रसिद्ध घटना है। एक नवजात शिशु का सूर्य को फल समझना उसकी मासूमियत को दर्शाता है, लेकिन उसे पकड़ने के लिए आकाश में उड़ जाना उसकी असीमित शक्ति का परिचायक है। जाम्बवान यह तर्क दे रहे हैं: यदि एक अबोध बालक बिना किसी अभ्यास के सूर्य को पकड़ने के लिए आकाश में जा सकता है, तो क्या एक वयस्क और शिक्षित योद्धा के रूप में हनुमान अब समुद्र नहीं लांघ सकते? यह घटना उनकी नैसर्गिक उड़ने की क्षमता (Levitation/Flight) का प्रमाण है।
